2021 Bullet Journal
Bullet journaling is my favorite way to stay organized. In all actuality it is THE way I say organized. I love it because its essentially a planner but on my terms. I decide what each month looks like and what each week looks like. I get to decide what I want to track and each month, and I can see if what I did the previous month is going to work for me or not. I get to change it and mold it to what fits my needs, apposed to a structure someone else made for me. I wont go into detail about how to use a bullet journal (there’s plenty of how-tos on the internet. Pinterest is a great resource) But I’ll share here what I create and what worked for me and what didn’t. I live stream my bullet journal every month on twitch if you’d like to watch this live. The videos are still up if you like to go back and watch. you can find there here: https://www.twitch.tv/ahteamickey
The end of 2020 I was doing a lot of laying in bed playing Among Us. Some might say I was obsessed.. This addicting game is what inspired my 2021 bullet journal cover and first theme. I don’t usually paint on the cover but I just loved this idea too much to not have it on the cover.
At the start of my bullet journal I have my year at a glance, its just a place to track important dates like birthdays and anniversaries in advance. I also have a goal page, which took me a long time to fill in because of how unexpectedly crazy 2020 was. Setting goals for 2021 felt just as hopeless as the previous year. But I mustarded up all the hope I have a made some goals for myself which I may write about in a future post. Next is a page is a page to track the books and movies I’ve read and watched. Let me know if I’m alone in this but I love looking back on old bullet journals and seeing where I was in my life and what I enjoyed. Honestly, I’m hoping having a book tracker will encourage me to keep reading, something I wish I did more of last.
Now begins January. I kept my monthly spread small. I felt like I just had no idea what January had in store for me so creating a big monthly spread just didn’t feel right. The drawing next to the January spread was influenced by my twitch stream and I love it. I do not love the quality of paper in my new bullet journal however. Last year I got an inexpensive journal from Michaels. This year I want to do a more creative spread so I thought Id treat myself with a more expensive journal. I bought myself a Moleskine dotted journal. The paper quality is terrible everything bleeds through its so frustrating. This year Ill have to get creative with using other paper and gluing it in.
For my mood tracker I just did the beans from Among Us and used a five part color key to show my moods for the day. I wanted the moods to be very generalized because feelings and moods are very complex and trying to narrow down each mood would be impossible. We’ll revisit this in a month to see how this worked for me.
My first weekly spread is very simple. Again I didn’t know what January had/has in store for me. The next week when I figured out what I want to do and how I was using my bullet journal in this new year I created a more specific to my needs weekly spread.
Now you are mostly caught up. I’ll keep updating how my bullet journal is going here. Let me know if you’re bullet journaling and how its going for you!
Until next time,
Mickey
